I've been doing the first series since Nov. 2000.

I keep a pretty steady flow and practice 3-5x a

week. Today at 7 am I kept getting dizzy, is this a

sign of dehydration? Food poisoning. And no I'm not

prego. I'll try again tmrw.

I have the same problem every once in a while

(not only during yoga practice) especially after rapid

ascends. Medically this is usually explained by changes in

your blood pressure, ie your body moves too fast for

the blood pressure to adapt to the movement.
I've

noticed personally that dizziness can also be caused by a

too low blood sugar level, so there's too little pure

energy in your system, or by a lack of oxygen in the air

that you breathe (a familiar problem when you do your

practice in a space full of people..the air's sometimes so

thick and damp that you could cut it with a knife..).
Dehydration usually makes me only tired and my muscles

worn-out..
This kind of problems are usually very

short-term..So don't skip your practice, it probably won't occur

again tomorrow!

Inermis:

Mucho gratitude for your

informative reply. As it turns out my dizziness was linked to

my female cycle and I will not be practising today.

This dizziness is a new developement in 20 years or

more of other demanding physical practices. My

ashtanga practice is now a yardstick in which I can

measure my health.

-As it turns out my dizziness was linked to my

female cycle-

Being woman myself I would

certainly like to know more of this observation! How did

you find that out and in what point of the cycle does

the dizziness appear?

Thanks in advance!
