HI FBL. . . thanks for such a sensitive reply.

I think the point you successfully raise is how

beneficial other classes can be even if the teaching is

'different ' to our own experience. There are now so many

practitioners of ashtanga it is very difficult for us all to be

sure of receiving tuition in the path of Guruji. I've

had very little experience of teaching by

certificated teachers, but I do feel that all those who have

taught me have given me something. Even where what I

have been taught has felt wrong I feel as though I

have then been able to cleave more to a path I

perceive to be correct in the wake of a teaching that has

felt inappropriate.

I have no desire to ignite

the ashtanga dogma debate here, but I can acknowledge

for some the exact path is an important one. For me I

am less inclined to adhere to too strict a path, but

that is me, and I’m a fairly messy, anarchic person.

So be it, I’m happy with that, and I suspect that if

I did as much yoga as I always imagine I should

then I would also become a little more certain about

why’s and wherefore’s.

It sounds as though your

experience with J + S has brought you to a new

understanding: just say no to drop in classes. . . which is a

shame because there’s a good sense of camaraderie to be

had. J + S are enthusiastic and supportive and have

fostered a community of practitioners that was not here

before. They bring a fine spiritual quality to their

teaching and they like to laugh. Laughter is very

important to me. I’m not saying they’re completely on

message (but then I wouldn’t necessarily know anyway) but

generally they feel good; though I can do without the

‘Hell, let’s do seven rounds of Navasana’!!

Ah

well. . . do check the Homeopathic Hospital, I think

you will find what you want there, and I hope you

like Brixton. . . it rools (though not as much a it

used too!)

Oh yeah, one final thing. . . don’t

nobody start chucking tomatoes, I’ve got me white

trousers on today!

Everything is

Coming!

Ted

Hey Ted - Just to reiterate, an iteresting

experience was recounted by me and overall I think those I

have met there are just lovely and in the good spirit

of things. I have seen Brixton change over the years

but not as a permanent resident as you have, Quite

staggering...

FBL

FBL - thanks for your thoughts. there's only so

much time to spend writing replies and i was very

aware that laziness on my behalf might lead to

misunderstanding. writing here is much more difficult than writng

business letters!

thanks for the reiteration, that

was the overall impression i had, but i didn't quite

get all of that into my reply. it's so easy to just

go off on one. . .

insert favourite emoticon

here

Ted
