Guest guest Posted August 25, 2001 Report Share Posted August 25, 2001 A while ago, I think someone here asked how many asanas exist in Yoga.<br><br>Today I finally got Lino Miele's book "Astanga Yoga" (a handsome, thoroughly bound hardback, not like the crumbling "Yoga Mala" paperback I've got from Jivamukti Yoga Center a week ago, the binding of which is of the most primitive kind I've ever seen).<br><br> On page 4 of "Astanga Yoga" I found the following note: <br>"There are as many 'Asanas' as there are species in the World (The No. is roughly put at 84 Crores)."<br><br>According to my dictionary, 1 'Crore' amounts to 10 million. This would mean that there are in fact roughly 840 MILLION YOGA POSTURES!!<br><br>Well then - Have a nice time practising them... Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
