Not right at the beginning of the session that is, because when I start doing the first suryanamaskaras I'm usually too stiff still to put my head on the floor, & just trying to visualise the navel dristi (I never see my navel in that position, just the rib cage - curious, eh?) keeps me busy enough already. But right in the first round of suryanamaskara B I'm flexible enough to put the top on the mat. I don't think it matters much whether you have the head on the ground (look at the picture in Yoga Mala; Sri Jois doesn't do so) or not. The important thing is that you DON'T STRAIN!
