Guest guest
Shamyl,
If you click on the photos page to the left of the message board, click on yoga, the next generation. These are pictures of my children we took one day while they were practicing. There is a childrens yoga program here called Indigo Yoga. My kids also posed for professional photos for Indigo for flash cards and the web site. You can contact Indioga yoga if you would like to buy the flashcards of the kids in poses. Guest guest
Its wonderful that your nephew is starting to practice yoga. I found a great book for kids called "Yoga for Children" by Rajiv Chanchani. He is one of Mr. Iyengar's senior students and runs the Yoga Ganga Centre for Yoga Studies in the Himalayas. His book is wonderful for children, but also for adults. Some of the stories behind the asanas are given. It might be hard to find, but it is definitely work a look.

Also there is a book called something like "A Child's Garden of Yoga" by Baba Hari Dass (I think) My kids really liked it and there are some great pictures of groups of kids doing asana in geometric arrangements, kind of like those synchronised swimmers you see on the Olympics.

Sometimes I see kids as young as 7 in my yoga class. They just come in and do what they can, or more often just practice until they are bored and then they run around or read a book. It doesn't seem to bother anyone. I also saw a little girl who was about 2 or 3 at Guruji's workshop in NYC the first week. She would put a beach towel down beside her mother and do an asana or just sit and watch, then she'd run off and come back a little later and do the same thing. It was really cool. I hope that she is OK.
