Can anyone suggest where I can look for an

Ashtanga Teacher Training program in the D.C. area? I've

been looking quite a bit and have had no luck. I'm

thinking I may have to opt for Iyengar training.
Many

thanks,
jennifer scope

ashtanga teaching qualifications involve studying directly

with Patthabi Jois in Mysore - for details

course, a valid but completely different form of practice

- their teacher training seems to be well-organised

and thorough here in Europe, I expect it probably is

in the States too.

I certainly agree that the only way to become

certified or blessed to teach is to study under Guruji.

However, you might contact David Ingalls, who runs the

Ashtanga Yoga Center on Wisconsin Ave. in DC

(202-342-6029). He and his instructors may have some suggestions

for you. David studied with Guruji, and several of

his instructors have as well. But they have also

taken classes from numerous others. It may be helpful

to check out their website, www.ashtangayogadc.com,

which describes the various training each instructor

has had. Good luck!

Patti
