Practice in one, yields benefits in all. Over-indulgence in one, impairs all. It is a question of balance.<br><br>One can practice meditation, for example, and gain mastery of the physical world (if that is your goal). Patanjali is clear on this. But he also warns of the dangers of doing so.<br><br>Practice of asana-pranayama can, as Shining Skull pointed out, lead to the beginning of the inner practices (but it can never replace those inner practices and it never is those inner practices).<br><br>So have a hatha yoga practice and have a meditation practice. Go to satsang. Read what the saints and sages have to say. Develop your discrimination and detachment through self-inquiry and selfless service.
