Have been meaning to post on this for

awhile.<br>I came across a VERY interesting video by a guy

named Shandor Remete. He is not an Ashtanga teacher,

although this is one of the styles of yoga he has studied.

I think he studied extensively with BKS Iyengar and

has studied Qigong and martial arts and various types

of yoga. He seems to be well-respected in the

Ashtanga community. <br><br>I added some info on this

video to my yoga videos page:

<a href=http://www.ionet.net/~tslade/yogavid.htm

target=new>http://www.ionet.net/~tslade/yogavid.htm</a><br><br>I also

transcribed the narration from his video and

put it here:

<a href=http://www.ionet.net/~tslade/shandorv.htm

target=new>http://www.ionet.net/~tslade/shandorv.htm</a><br><br>He has a website

here:

<a href=http://www.shandor.com.au

target=new>http://www.shandor.com.au</a><br><br>The US source for his video is

Manduka

Matsource:<br><a href=http://www.yogacentre.com/Manduka/

target=new>http://www.yogacentre.com/Manduka/</a><br><br>There is an interesting

article about him at Yoga

Chicago:

Shandor.......

Thanks for all the information, it's good to see

you back in action. There was a short thread about

Shandor Remete on ezboard that wasn't very favorable. Has

anyone here ever studied with him?<br><br>Here's the

ezboard

thread:<br><br><a

Had not seen that thread on EZBoard. Interesting.

I can see him being a bit egotistical. He does not

speak on the video, and maybe does not even smile.

Still it is very interesting to me. He obviously has a

lot of mastery and knowledge of yoga. On the video,

the practice he presents is non-stop movement, as in

Tai Chi. (Yet one problem I had with Ashtanga when I

was attending daily classes was that I thought I

needed to spend more time in each posture). I'm still

exploring all kinds of things, and have been quite

intrigued by Shandor.

Why avoid a great teacher. I learn a lot from

him, and so did John Scott, as far as I know. <br>It

is not a question of mixing methods, it is a

question of depening once one's practice, by getting

information and knowledge where ever it happens to be,

Yes, I've studied with him for 2 years, and

amusingly enough, he is the teacher who brought me to

ashtanga (he has a short ashtanga phase). He is very

knowledgeable teacher, and his adjustements are amazing at

time, but a bit of a controversial carater. Go to him

if you can and make your own mind about

him.<br><br>Christophe Mouze<br>Editor Yoga
