Guest guest
Dude, you really let yourself fall apart. But do not despair. Ashtanga yoga is a path that starts with one step. Can you do one sun saluation? If you can then you are on your way. Once El Senor hurt his back and developed a brutal case of sciatica. Believe it or not, I gave up the practice for about 6 months while I was in excrutiating pain and had resorted to pain killers just to get through the day. I went and visited an old teacher of mine who was in between classes and gave me the most valuable advice of my life. I told him that I had to quit yoga due to the back pain and there in the waiting area of his school he walked me through a sun salutation where I bent over with bent knees, walked back my feet one at a time to chaduranga, took up dog, down dog with bent knees, held for five breaths and walked my feet forward. Prior to hurting my back I had already completed primary series and been to Mysore so not only did I have the physical challenges to deal with but those of the ego as well.

Ashtanga is not just a practice for dancers and physically fit. If taught properly, it is for everyone and if you take a slow and steady approach, I think you will find the rewards immeasureable.

El Senor Pinche Wey
