Guest guest
Hey, I may be moving to indy to work at Lilly,
but likelyhood is low. When likelyhood was high I looked into the yoga sceen there.......

Not much good news on the ashtanga front. No mysore class. there seemed to be a teacher in Broad Ripple who teaches a vinyasana class

I met a wonderful man who teaches yoga in Indy
and up in Carmel who goes by the name "Yogi Carpenter" I hit the class in Carmel and it was
delightful, but not vinyasana.

His email is Yogi Carpenter <yogaclub>
And I did notice that he teaches/taught a "power yoga" type class at a health club.

There is also a Himalaya Yoga place also in Broad Ripple.

My plan, should work actually take me to Indy, is to utilize the other people and places for the other seven limbs and work hard a developing my own astanga asana practice.

Should I move there too, perhaps we can practice
together......

Good luck

ish
Guest guest
I spoke with Yogi also! This is why I was alarmed that there was not an Ashtanga following in Indy. Should you end up working for Lilly please let me know if you would ever like to practice together. I know some great teachers here in Cinci that sometimes travel for classes. I have considered working with them a few times a month so I can continue evolving into the postures correctly. Perhaps there are others in Indy looking to practice Ashtanga also...

Thank you for your response!
Guest guest
No problem, glad you have met Yogi. He and I correspond on an infrequent basis. My move to Indy is dependent upon wether or not I move to
Sweden, can't do both. Both places don't offer much in the way of proximal Ashanga schools. There are however yogis all over.

My plan for both places is similar to yours in that I will travel to learn from ashtanga yogis.
However, I belive I will benefit greatly from self-study and interactions with other sadhaka.

my email address are :
udonnoddles
ish

Send me your email address or contact me in a few months. If I am in Indy I defintely want someone to practice the Ashtanga series with me.
Guest guest
This may not be exactly on topic, but I am in somewhat the same delemma. Where can I find ashtanga yoga groups and practice? I live in Toledo, Ohio and I am a train ride from Chicago with Michigan just around the corner so to speak. The nearest groups are Cincy and Columbus. I would be very interested in feedback about ashtanga groups in Cincy, Columbus and Chicago. My plan, after buying up every revelant video I could, was/is to develop my practice solo and possibly enroll in the Chicago ashtanga studio of Mielo(?) to hone down the mistakes that I know I will make from not having an observer/teacher. There is a Hindu temple here in Toledo where I am told yoga is practiced there. I do not know about this, but would be willing to give this one a try since I am intensely curious about yoga, Indian culture, food, etc. My thinking is that yoga in the Indian home must be very much like the American desire for football, roundball, etc. The point is I am willing to travel to accomplish this goal. I too expect to move in a few years or sooner to Virginia and all I know about that (Hampton Roads) is that there is Hindu temple in the area. Send me some feedback if you can. My email is zekes7. By the way, I have gotten flexible again and I am losing roughly 5lbs/wk.
Guest guest
"". Given the recent rise of yoga as a form of exercise in the US, it could be that there may be a larger percentage of the American population that regularly participates in some form of yoga than in the Indian population
