Guest guest
Sharath's baby was born about a week ago - a healthy eight-pound-something baby girl. Mother, daughter, father (and great grandfather) all seem to be fine. Naming ceremony will probably be next weekend.

On a less joyful note, Guruji has to have cataract operations. He wants to avoid cancelling classes, so the plan is to have one eye done this Friday after class, recuperate Saturday and carry on teaching Sunday. Same again with the other eye the following weekend.

Apparently it's a routine and pretty trivial op; nevertheless I'm sure everybody will want to wish him a smooth operation and a swift recovery. I wish he would allow himself a bit more recuperation time, but he seems determined to teach till he drops.

(Apologies if this has all already been mentioned before - I just got back to Mysore after a couple of weeks away & haven't been keeping up with internet stuff)

Re-bleeding in the eye as well as dislocation of new lens is a VERY REAL possibility!!!

I myself experienced re-bleeding following an eye trauma and had cataract surgery on one eye - and I am less than half Guruji's age.

Guruji should avoid completely lifting any weight for two weeks - giving backbend assists is a particularily BAD idea. Any inverted poses are NO-NO's - and forward bend assists (Which will involve pressure on his diaphram and hence raising blood pressure in his head and eyes) are a big mistake.) Even COUGHING is dangerous!

If Guruji wants to supervise class with Sharath and Sharath's mom giving assists after at LEAST a week of rest, perhaps - but even then it is chancy.

Please pass this information along to Guruji and the other students in Mysore. The students there should INSIST that Guruji take it easy.

Dan McGuire
