Guest guest
for all the troubles- first, let all of us be thankful for the knowledge of yoga. david life gave up teaching astanga at his own school, the hired teachers that have defected from jyc (please note: all male) to else where (patanjali included) did so out of their need to have a leader in their own practice. everyone knows a guru is essential. the worst part about all this is that the students were led to believe that the program was cancelled (read: blamed) on christopher, who as far as anyone can tell has been a pretty big devotee of jyc for a while. the thought that this employee could cancel an entire program at jyc is ludicrous and it is shameful that S.G. and D.L. would use chris' name in the whole affair. they are the boss, that is perfectly clear. so, the students who love the mysore practice will seek out other environs, jiva will go without the problem of trying to find a new leader for their mysore club (and the $$). the fact is is that most advanced students find their bliss elsewhere. the many female teachers that are involved in this have every right to practice where they choose and it is awful to think that jyc would lose these teachers as they are some of the more experienced staff members. their steadfast practice only seems to enhance their skills at the jiva method. there is no harm in the led classes being continued at jiva- the astanga system is an integral part of the jiva way. also, none of the astanga teachers at jiva, either leading the classes or guiding the mysore practices is even certified by pattabhi except david (right?), so it is only through S & D's connection with S.K.P.J. that the classes have continued there without approved teachers. the thoughts on the talk that didn't happen sound like heresay- ask the source: guruji, if you really need to know!
