Guest guest
It's also worth mentioning that Doug Swenson sustained a major injury as a young man after which one entire side of his body was debilitated and he was immobilized with cast, crutches, braces, etc. for some time and he continued to practice in that condition, so this is someone who has big-time experience in the rehabilitative and therapeutic possibilities of yoga and Ashtanga Yoga. It's unbelievable that he sustained such an injury looking at his practice now. I found that particularly inspiring.

He seemed to indicate that he did practice intensively with Guruji when he was in the states in the 60s including the time when he was seriously injured. I understand that his relationship with and opinion of Guruji now is not favourable, and that he does sometimes convey negative messages about Guruji, but I did not witness that personally and he did not do that in the workshop I attended.

Also, he calls his style "Power Ashtanga" rather than "Ashtanga," so perhaps he is trying to clarify that he does not teach traditional Ashtanga.

- Kiran
