Guest guest
Can anyone recommend the best place to take beginning classes in SF?
Guest guest
HI-If you're interested in learning the Primary Series, Devorah Sacks, who is blessed by Patabhi Jois to teach, has traditional Mysore sessions @ Open Door Yoga, 1500 Castro St. @ the corner of 25th, on Monday, Wednesday, & Fridays from 7AM-9AM (you can actually arrive a bit earlier; the invocation is chanted @7AM). There are no teachers in SF who are certified by Guruji, & Devorah is the only 1 who is blessed by him to teach. If you're sincerely interested in learning Astanga,I highly recommend Devorah's classes; she's a wonderful instructor who truly tunes into each person individually. Once you feel comfortable in your practice, Open Door has Open Practice on Tuesdays & Thursdays from 7AM-9AM, but there is no instructor. Guest guest
thanks so much! I actually live very close to that studio. Do you know if you need to be familiar with all of the poses before you attend? I know that traditional Mysore classes are individual, and you go at your own pace, but does devorah show you the sequence of poses? ashtangayoga, kiai72 <no_reply> wrote: > HI-If you're interested in learning the Primary Series, Devorah > Sacks, who is blessed by Patabhi Jois to teach, has traditional > Mysore sessions @ Open Door Yoga, 1500 Castro St. @ the corner of > 25th, on Monday, Wednesday, & Fridays from 7AM-9AM (you can actually > arrive a bit earlier; the invocation is chanted @7AM). Guest guest
HI-You don't need know the Primary Series before oming. Devorah will ask you if you're new to the practice, & give you instruction, adding poses along the way. Just show up, & be patient with yourself.
