Hello,

Has anyone ever seen K. Pattabhi Jois practice the Ashtanga series? Does he

practice them, or does he feel that practicing the asana is to cultivate the

breath, and once the breath is completely cultivated that asana practice is

no longer needed? All the pictures I have seen of him he has a bit of girth

across his midsection. It would seem that if he did the Ashtanga series

regularly, that he would be real lean and fit? Is this a "do as I say, not

as I do" type of thing?

Sorry if any of this sounds insulting, but I have never met him so I am just

curious.

Thanks,

the man is like 87 years old. would you be doing the ashtanga

practice at THAT age. most young adults can't get thru it. i've never

seen him do asana but he walks and moves like no 80+ i've ever seen.

he's a walking testament to the benefits of the practice. he has no

wrinkles on his face. i don't see any. does anyone else agree. he is

so adorable. i just want to hug him when i see him. i heard he

stopped the practice at 50 when his son died. he was so overwhelmed

by grief that he stopped the practice but thankfully continued

teaching. am i right?
