Guest guest
Hello all, I am new to ashtanga yoga (about five months or so.) I have been practicing regularly at a great studio in the Boston area that I have found. Great teachers, wonderful atmosphere. I am relocating to Houston, and have been unable to find any studios on the 'net. Does anyone know of any teachers/studios in the Houston area or suburbs? thank you, Laurel C
Guest guest
You might want to email David Swenson. He does not have a Studio in Houston, but he is based down there so he might have an idea of where to practice. You can email him from his website, http://www.ashtanga.net I have chatted with him and his brother, Doug on email and they are very nice. Hope that helps! Guest guest
Very funny you should ask this! I've been talking with Yannis, the owner and main instructor at http://www.tejasyoga.com/. I was thinking how lovely it would be to live in Houston again to be able to practice with him! Yannis is Greek, which gives his email correspondence an interesting flavor. I've also corresponded with his wife, Karen, regarding photos he has on his site. (I am web mistress of the Ashana Index on YogaDancer.com.) They seem like really great people! His is a relatively new studio, and his philosophy about the practice is beautiful. The good thing -- to me -- about a fledgling studio, is that it's not crowded yet, which means more attention during Mysore, and being part of a newly building yoga community that stems from practicing at one place regularly. If I were you, I'd check it out simply because of its newness. An added bonus will be Yannis' philosophy about keeping Ashtanga pure. Very nice and something *I* look for!
