I looked a little to find a studio in Baltimmore that has a full schedule of Ashtanga, but did not see anything. Does anyone have any leads for me? Guest guest Posted June 29, 2002 Report Share Posted June 29, 2002 At this point there is no pure Ashtanga in Baltimore, although I think you can find <sigh> "Power" yoga or stuff styled "vinyasana" yoga. The closes to you would be the Columbia Yoga Center, which is on Rte 108 and 29, just a bit from the Columbia Town Center. It is, however, taught be someone who is although very nice, talks quite a bit and doesn't stick to the Primary Series. Although this studio offers great visiting teachers for workshops, I, myself, am not fond not fond of it. It is an Iyengar studio, so if she's interested in that, she's in good shape. The Ashtanga Yoga Center is an hour + drive from the Baltimore Beltway (695) to the center itself, depending upon traffic. I practice there daily and am in their teacher training program. Although it is a heck of a drive, it's worth the trip. She could plan her time so she could do a couple of different things. For example, Mysore on Tuesday followed by an Asana Workshop. Level I on Friday followed by a GREAT (my favorite) Open class. Make it worth the trip. I also have a group of friends up that way who come down occasionally.
