Guest guest
Wei Li ashtanga yoga has really taken off recently in Singapore. Places to do it 1) On the Mat. This is an ashtanga-only shala run by Celestine Lau, they do traditional style mysore every morning as well as led classes in the evening. Has quite a few great teachers passing through giving workshops frequently. At Robertson Walk. You can contact the shala at: onthemat1, phone # will be listed in directory. Classes are abt S$15 for drop in and u can buy monthly for a lot cheaper. 2) Ashtanga Singapore. A self-practice group that runs some classes. Not sure where they are practising now. Also has teachers coming through for workshops. you can contact: ashtanga_singapore. Think they charge around $15 too. 3) Shambala. Located at Forum Galleria. Probably Singapore's biggest yoga studio, offers all kinds of yoga, of which ashtanga is one. They have just a few ashtanga classes and not sure how good the teacher is. This is the most expensive, classes are over S$20 but it is nice space. Go check them out and see which one u like the best, they all 3 definitely have a v different vibe. Those are the major options tho there may be some pp offering private lessons. 16-year old is definitely NOT too young to start, even little kids can start doing yoga! Whether or not she will take to it is a different question (notice how most pp doing ashtanga are generally at least in mid-late 20s? but maybe that's a cost issue.) Go for it!! Guest guest
Thank you Cheryl, for the helpful information. What do you mean by drop in? Is it just a one-time workshop or crash course to ashtanga yoga? How long does it usually last? Thank you very much once again! - Cheryl Liew ashtanga yoga Wednesday, July 03, 2002 8:54 AM Re: ashtanga yoga Any places to recommend learning ashtanga yoga in Singapore?
