Guest guest
I am a certified yoga instructor and have a non-ashtanga question but I dont know where else to turn..I have looked through some books, on line (found something but not sure of it) and thought I would ask you guys! What is the moon salutation/Chandra Namaskar? I have a personal training client that is a pitta and my Ayurvedic book says that this series offers a great cooling effect for those hot pitta types! I found something on line but the ashtangee in me said," boy, this is boring", However, venturing out of the box is a good thing I beleive. This may be a good thing for her to add to her personal practice just to assist with finding nutrality...moon/cooling right? So, If any of you out there venture into variouse styles I would love for you to share your knoweledge! Thank You, Namaste, Sat Nam, and Bliss Visva Devi Virginia, USA
Guest guest
HI, Diet is more important than incorporating an asana if the person's lifestyle is taken into account. Also, doing abyanga at least once a week will greatly decrease accumulation of body heat which is what happens most readily from yoga when pitta is out of balance. Very important to do this and more important to adjust diet and lifestyle. Sorry if it doesn't answer your question fbl ashtangayoga, "coolsons2229" <coolsons2229> wrote: > I am a certified yoga instructor and have a non-ashtanga question but > I dont know where else to turn..I have looked through some books, on > line (found something but not sure of it) and thought I would ask you > guys! > > What is the moon salutation/Chandra Namaskar? > > I have a personal training client that is a pitta and my Ayurvedic > book says that this series offers a great cooling effect for those > hot pitta types! Guest guest
Visva Devi wrote [[What is the moon salutation/Chandra Namaskar?]] ** There are (just like Surya Namaskar) several variations to this salutation. Generally speaking, it is meant to 'cool' or relax the body. Just as Surya Namaskar is meant to be done as the sun is rising, so to Chandra Namaskar is meant to be done as the moon rises in in the night sky. Most Chandra Namaskars are noted for their inclusion of Hanamasan, as well as a 'side-legged' lunge. Om Shanti ... Guest guest
I think that she knows this already. She asked how to do it. Also, I see on your website that you are a holder of an "advanced teaching certificate in Ashtanga yoga": >From your website: "Having earned advanced teaching certification in two Hatha Yoga lineages - Sivananda and Ashtanga - she further received diksha (initiation) into the Yogic fellowship in 1990, and is currently a theology student at Kriya Yoga Seminary. Yogini Shakti dedicates her practice to the many outrageously beautiful instructors, swamis, and gurus she has met - and continues to meet - upon the path of her life." Just curious who gave you such a certificate - ? Since in Ashtanga, the only person recognized to give people permission to teach is Pattabhu Jois... fbl ashtangayoga, "yogini_shakti" <Yogini_Shakti> wrote: > Visva Devi wrote [[What is the moon salutation/Chandra Namaskar?]] > ** There are (just like Surya Namaskar) several variations to this > salutation.
