NEWSLETTER: Dear Ashtanga Enthusiasts and Supporters of Purple Valley Yoga,

 

BAD NEWS

Unfortunately we have been the victim of a 'Domain Name Bandit' and the

yogagoa.com domain name has been stolen. How can that happen, you ask? A

combination of incompetence, bad luck and aggressive opportunism by a web-based

shark. The end result is that we are currently trying to buy back the name from

the bandit who is based in Taiwan.

In the meantime we have secured the www.yogagoa.net site and have transferred

everything over to that. If you tried to email us since July 1st you will not

have been able to get through. PLEASE EMAIL US AGAIN.

Please also change your address book entry for Annie Gurton or Purple Valley

Yoga Centre from annie to annie, and the site on your

Favourites list from www.yogagoa.com to www.yogagoa.net.

Hopefully we will eventually be able to get the original site back in which case

both will function and no further change will be necessary.

practicing regularly at a great studio in the Boston area that I have found.

Great teachers, wonderful atmosphere. However I am relocating to Houston, and

have been unable to find any studios on the 'net. Does anyone know of any

To the person looking for Ashtanga in Baltimore:

At this point there is no pure Ashtanga in Baltimore, although I think you can

find <sigh> "Power" yoga or stuff styled "vinyasana"

yoga. The closest to you would be the Columbia Yoga Center, which is on Rte 108

and 29, just a bit from the Columbia Town Center. It is,

however, taught be someone who is although very nice, talks quite a bit and

doesn't stick to the Primary Series. Although this studio

offers great visiting teachers for workshops, I, myself, am not fond of it. It

is an Iyengar studio, so if you are interested in

that, she's in good shape. The Ashtanga Yoga Center is an hour + drive from the

Baltimore Beltway (695) to the center itself, depending upon traffic. I

practice there daily and am in their teacher training program. Although it is a

heck of a drive, it's worth the trip. She could

plan her time so she could do a couple of different things. For example, Mysore

on Tuesday followed by an Asana Workshop. Level I on

Friday followed by a GREAT (my favorite) Open class. Make it worth the trip. I

also have a group of friends up that way who come down

occasionally. You can have her email me and I'll try to hook her up. The

their schedule is changing right now so keep an eye on it.

This style is an eclectic mix of Iyengar,Astanga,Sivananda,and dance tecnique.

Ashtanga yoga retreat in Mani Peloponese Southern Greece with Kristina Karitinos

Ireland 6th ­ 18st October

Kristina Karitinos Ireland is an experienced teacher of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga.

Originally from Greece, she has studied ashtanga yoga since 1991. For several

years she taught in Crete with her teacher Derek Ireland whom she assisted on

Teachers Training Courses in Goa, and was also trained by Pattabhi Jois in

Mysore. She established ashtanga yoga in Brighton and leads workshops in the UK

and Europe.

Accomodation: Constructed in the traditional Mani style, Limeni Village is a

stone-and-wood built hotel sitting on a rock, overlooking the sea, the

picturesque area of Limeni and the historic site of Itylos.

Yoga classes: There will be two groups of a two hour practice, ten sessions

in total. Self practice or talk primary from 7a.m-9a.m. Suitable for people with

at least six months of Ashtanga practice. The beginners course will take place

from 9a.m.­11a.m.
