Guest guest
Many htigns can cause strain on the knees. In my case it was trying too hard to force the lotus postures. If the hips aren't flexible, the next joint along will take the strain because the hips are so solid. Try easing back on the positions that involve lotus and see if your knee pain eases off. It taught me a lesson, namely just how looooooooooooonnnnnng the road to doign the full primary series is goign to be :-) Oh well, I suppose if it was easy it wouldn't be worth doing ;-) Cheers, Scott dolcevita999 [no_reply] 07 July 2002 22:40 ashtanga yoga ashtanga yoga Re: Questions on the subject of knees.. i have had some problems with mine, not because of strain during the poses,i am fairly flexible, at least i don't feel it during the time hold the pose...but i've felt more pain in my knees since i've started practicing yoga as a daily routine..would anyone have any idea what the cause of this would be...does cutting down on the sun sals make it easier on the knees? Guest guest
I agree, don't rush it and back off when the knees are sore. I have had alot of experience with that myself. I ran alot for years before I started ashtanga and then after awhile into the practice I found my knees were so sore. At times I felt I couldn't get up the stairs. I realized that I was using my muscles in ways that i had never done before and they were sore. I also realized how important it is for the correct proper alignment of the knees in the positions. so really take the time to pay attention to that factor during your practice and I believe you will feel a difference.
