Guest guest
I tell all my prospective students that I am not a certified Ashtanga instructor and that I only teach an Ashtanga style....I am more "real" with my students that the local gyms and I have spend lots of time, money, practice, and soul into my yoga. My intentions are alwasy of the upmost and you would have to know me to understand. I think what we miss most in our lifes "as taught in Kundalini" is compassion and I see a lot of that missing in the few months that I have been a memeber of this site. I was so surprised to read words of so called yoga practitioners. I am well aware that the guruji is the only one to certify someone to instruct a true ashtanga class but as my information on my site reflects that I am only certified "yoga synthesis" by Raji Thron in NJ which is a synthesis of many styles and I personally practice Asthanga and Kundalini on a daily basis. I share my knowledge to the best of my ability and my Honors Degree in Sports Medicine/Physical Therapy definatley gives me a well rounded foundation in addition to my personal experinces in life including my many years of dance and fitness. Dont under estimate others as I never underestimate anyone too...we all can learn from each other. I learn from others each day and even I, yes I, may have something to offer you one day. A dancer is usually quite flexible and as a beginer myself (only 2 years of practice) it has allowed me to move into postures that clearly are difficult for most beginners. That is all I ment..and if you understand Kundalini you would realize that I take my practice very spiritually and practice white tantric meditation (solstances for 6 hours at a time for days in a row). Please lets all demonstrate our compassion. Dont assume that one is "instructing" or "practicing" in ignorance unless you really know what is going on. Feel free to call me even...Feel free to blind call and pretend that you are interrested in classes...I have nothing to hide and as previouse posts to this group state I do plan to visit guruji in the near future with hopes of me too receiving his blessings. I only take my students where I know they can go....They class is small and intimite and it only consist of a few that have been taking form me for a while and are interrested in its flow and I educate them about True Ashtanga vs. what the local gyms offer and claim to be Ashtaga sometimes. We dont even do the entire series like a real Ashtanga class....We only go as far as they can go and we do it more workshop style than anything else. So, in all.dont worry about my mula banda....Thanks for your loving concern, Om Shanti, Namaste, and Sat Nam tinazym <tinazym wrote: Re: "they only time I get to take a "real" ashtanga class is when I travel to New Jersey and take from my trainer/one that certified me." I don't know you, or your teachings, but newsflash: NO-ONE can "certify" you (a "trainer"?!?) to teach ashtanga but our beloved Guruji. Period. And I'm not even touching that stuff about dance letting you "progress" faster... Be careful what you post, because it can come back and bite you on the mula bandha. -Tina. ashtanga yoga New! Guest guest
I agree with you totally. My teacher trained with Raji and not everyone has had the privilage of going to Mysore and receiving guruji's blessing. Ashtanga yoga is such a wonderful gift that has been given that it needs to be shared with more people and to not be able to learn this practice because you have not been "certified" by guruji is disheartening. More then anything I would love to go and train and become certified, but will that happen in my lifetime, I don't know. to think that someday I could never teach it to another would really be awful for me. I do agree, that no one should claim they are certified if they have not been. That is part of of the honor in yoga, being truthful. But, there are alot of people who do Ashtanga and are so proficient in their practices and when a gift is given by god, it should be shared with all. Knowing the training that goes into dancing, I would say that your flexibility would definetly be an asset to the asana practice. It also seems that you have learned alot more about compassion through your yoga then others. Guest guest
WRAP YOUR TEXT PLEASE! You wouldn't have to make any excuses about your "lack of certification" if you don't claim to teach something you aren't qualified to teach in the first place. Why do you have to even include the word Ashtanga, if, according to what you are saying, you teach "Ashtanga STYLE" (I'm afraid to ask what this actually is) which is not even related anyway. Just tell them you teach "yoga," (or would you not get as many student that way?........) You are probably doing good things for people and are certainly qualified to teach "yoga", but why say Ashtanga if that's not what you are teaching in the first place? If the first thing you have to tell perspective students is that you are not certified, that can't be too good... All of what you say is wonderful, but you are lying to people somehow of you have to make disclaimers before you even begin teaching. Just teach what you know, which doesn't seem to be Ashtange, and know that that is fine. And if you are meant to have students, they will appear, even without the alluring come-on of "Ashtanga STYLE" Your post is scary. Two years? "True Ashtanga?" I don't know... fbl (I am a "so-called" yoga practicioner, so get real to that baby!) ashtangayoga, Mohamed Youssef < coolsons2229> wrote: > > I tell all my prospective students that I am not a certified Ashtanga instructor and that I only teach an Ashtanga style....I am more "real" with my students that the local gyms and I have spend lots of time, money, practice, and soul into my yoga. Guest guest
If you can share with me how to wrap my text I would be greatly appreciative. When I hit reply I only have choices to send, save draft, spell check, and cancel. I have (on the last few emails..forgot to do one) been trying to hit reply and then just deleting the other info so it would only come up as my reply and not the multiple messages with it..is that what you mean? I dont know what wrap text means...sorry New! SBC Dial - 1st Month Free & unlimited access
