Guest guest
"Wrap your text?" That's hardly as big an annoyance as having to move down through extraneous nattering! How about having the courtesy to remove everything but the post to which one is replying? It's boring, inconsiderate and a big waste of time and space to have to weed through a repeat of the entire journal (or conversation history) to find someone's response. I realize there are a TON of new people on the Internet not familiar with email lists' predecessors, or 'newsgroups,' or the "netiquette" involved, but it's always been considered extremely rude to not remove unnecessary junk from the bottom of a reply. Junk = tag lines. Advertisements. The ENTIRE newsletter, etc. Far too many people don't bother to take this simple step of deleting. Tech tip: Place the coursor at the end of YOUR text or the person's to whom you're replying. Hit the Control, Shift and End keys and it will highlight everything to the end of the page. Release those keys and hit the delete key. Gone. Clean reading remains. Just a pleading thought. AshtangaYogaDC: aka "The Ashtanga Yoga Center." Do note that through the summer months and into Fall's warm weather, Friday morning Mysores are down at the docks in Virginia, on the Potomac at 7:00, rather than 6:30. I practice at this studio daily and my name is Christine, if you want to say hello! I'm short, usually have on a ratty Country & Western T-shirt, and my hair is in a braid down one side of my head because I can't braid it if I can't see it, so it's on the side rather than at the back. Raji: Funny his name should come up. I was just tonight, not 30 minutes ago, talking with the teacher who introduced me to the Primary Series. (Bless her soul!) At the time she certified with Raji, it was an Integral certification. Since that point, the studio and teaching focus has evolved. Raji apparently is very clear about the fact he's moved away from some Gurus' teachings and integrating more of others. <shrug> Not good, not bad. It's a choice. My friend and teacher is probably one of the most knowledgable yoga teachers I've experienced (I've been practicing since 1978 and have seen a LOT). Her teaching style, ability and methodology compliments the Ashtanga practice and makes her an extremely effective and SAFE teacher. Particularly for beginners, who we must admit, can just plain hurt themselves by trying to "power" through this practice without biomechanical awareness. She makes no bones about the fact that she's not Ashtanga/PKJ certified, but she does teach the Primary Series. She teaches it well and again, safely. She gracefully and graciously credits much of her effectiveness to Raji and what she learned in that studio. If I were in the NYC area, I think that's a teacher training I'd take. And although I have no intention of EVER teaching, I have over 500 teacher training hours under my belt. Yes, I've studied with PJK, too. Not the safest nor most sensible teaching I've ever experienced, but what the heck. It's good to experience the head honcho when you can, right? Anyway, my point was that there are many valid systems of yoga. We are blessed with caring about the integrity of a practice we love. Why tear down and attack someone who is perpetuating this as well? Sure, I believe in accuracy and have, ummmm.... "addressed" people who claim their certified in Ashtanga, because that's just wrong if they're not. OTOH, if they're honest about what they teach, and true to the Ashtanga form, let's acknowledge that they're doing the students a favor with their accuracy and caring, rather than some fly- by-night mail-in certified "Power" yota teacher! Enough. I've had too much coffee. Albeit decaf, I don't think there's a lot of difference between that and regular espresso, do you? Have a great night. Off to Mysore in a few hours! <LOL> The evening flies by!
