Guest guest
I loved reading your poste and I will definately look for you at Ashtanga Yoga DC Studio..I want to attend the Sat and or Sun Ashtanga I classes beginning next week. I have to go pick up my son from Yoga camp this weekend. Raji is a great man and he is amazing. His heart is tender, his intentions are honest and giving, and he is well educated as well as an amazing practitioner. I stayed at his home a few weekends with him and his family and I hope to revisit them soon. He does emphasize that everyones yoga is going to be different and there isn't any right or wrong way..it is what you need for you! And only you know that. I once told Raji that my most Blissful experiences are actually not doing yoga postures but during dance and meditation and he said, "Ahh, now that is self realization"..see, all of our souls require something different. He does teach a good Ashtanga and Mysore class and now has a studio in his home too! I thank you and all of those who have a true "open mind". I cant wait to meet you...I'll be looking for braid on the side of your head! Peace! Wendy (Vishva Devi) For those who still wish to attack, I can say that my home page is for people who inquire about my classes after they have either 1) heard from a friend about our studio 2) seen a LOCAL advertisement or 3) from a yoga teachers listing. If someone put in an Ashtanga search in the computer my site would not come up so I am not missleading anyone...they usually call me once they learn about the studio and I explain upfront that I am not Ashtanga certified. And you know what,,,they dont care...do you think most people out where I live know anythign about yoga let alone Ashtanga (99 out of 100 cant even say it right when they ask about it) and they certainly dont know that only the guruji can give you his blessing to teach, but you know what...I tell them anyway..that should prove that my intentions are not to be disshonest. They dont even comprehend the ture concept of a guru...Believe it or not...I teach these people (to the best of my loving ability) about yoga..they know nothing, their first questions are always, "what is yoga?"...and I would rather get to them than all these local gyms that are ruining the name and experience of yoga slowly....(I am not down knocking gyms that may have experienced educated instructors that offer a true yogic experience...you guys know what I am refering too). With my education and background..I would also prefer that my yoga students bring thier curiosities to class so that I can adjust, correct, and give them tips concerning their form as opposed to having them ONLY try this at home (now since you can watch videos and read books!) which that thought gives me the chills...home practice is essential but this is so dynamic and intense that I want to make sure they dont hurt themselfs. How many of you instructors have had students come in stating that they have never taken a class but have watched videos and have done a home practice for over a year and they come in and you have to help them relearn everything! That is not good for them at all! Maybe these few reasons can help those who are so fundamental about their yoga to see that there are some GOOD reasons to share your knowledge especially if there is no one locally that has more experience to do so and you are it! What...have them go to the gyms for guidence. scary scary...All my students know that I am growing with them..they are ok with this and they love me...I love them...we they need something more..their soul will speak to them and they will move on...as I hope they do to be honest..my passion is to see all of mystudents both dance and yoga to grow and blossom far beyond where I can help take them! mmmmmm how lovely Autos - Get free new car price quotes
Guest guest
Wendy, I assist in the Level I on Thursday nights. I will pass you either as I leave Mysore Saturday morning, or if I take Damien's Level II after the Level I. (Sometimes I'm too lazy to get up for Mysore!) I think on Saturday you'll have Gail, who is a great person! Sunday might be Sharon. She practiced pregnant until her due date -- for which the baby was three weeks or so late. Shows to go ya that with a regular practice, one apparently can do handstands when hugely pregnant. Forward bends were another question! <LOL> And Wendy, you don't owe anyone here an explanation. If you're not misrepresenting yourself, if you're learning and growing, if you're conscientious and careful, if you're working on your own teaching and biomechanical knowledge, if you're not setting yourself up as judge and jury, in MY opinion, you're on the right path. I'll tell you more about my friend who certified with Raji when we meet. You might enjoy classes with her, too! Enjoy this gorgeous day! ashtangayoga, Mohamed Youssef <coolsons2229> wrote: > > I loved reading your poste and I will definately look for you at Ashtanga Yoga DC Studio..I want to attend the Sat and or Sun Ashtanga I classes beginning next week. <<
Guest guest
There is more to life then Ashtanga Yoga. Ashtanga yoga or any other yoga is a wonderful way to help us create the best lives we can. When one person has a gift to share with another, a life is changed. It is about the giving and the caring, not who certified who. Guest guest
I agree with you 100% Margee. Yoga is a great gift to be shared with everyone. Ashtanga yoga is the form I practice, but I endeavor to live a yoga life! I am a student of ashtanga, and due to physical challenges, my journey may just consist of working through the primary series. I also teach hatha yoga. If one of my students asks me about ashtanga, I will give them a brief overview of the practice, explaining that I am not certified to teach. I have been blessed with a most extraordinary teacher and am surrounded by loving supportive friends in my practice. I will not deny someone an introduction to the gift I've been given because I have not received certification. I will always honor my teacher and the ashtanga lineage, and always try to give the gift of yoga whenever I can. I appreciate the diversity of this forum, and look forward to expanding my knowledge and contributing when I can. (Margee... maybe we can work on a few asana specific to your situation one morning before we begin our practice) shanti Kathleen --- "Gearhart, Margee" <mgearhart wrote: > There is more to life then Ashtanga Yoga.
