My neck hurts a bit after doing Karnapidasana. Is it normal? Maybe I´m not using

the correct mat ( I practice yoga over my living room carpet). Do I have to use

a padding under the neck to do this posture?

traditionally in ashtanga, props (or lifts) are not used. practice

and allow time for the area to open. also have your teacher look at

your alignment.
