Guest guest
I am new to the practice of ashtanga asanas with Richard Freeman's Primary Series video, and have not been able to move my legs thru between my arms as I jump back to a seated position during the vinyasa. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. I am patient with my development but am curious about something else I might try. Thanks, Suzanne in Maine USA
Guest guest
heya!!!! After doing ashtanga for 3 years i just got the jump thru a few months ago....its hard to explain how you can break the jump thru down with out seeing it..... so i would suggest a teacher. BUT i will give it a shot When i was learing jump thru it never really "clicked" untill i realized that you need to get your hips over your sholders like your going to do a hand stand... this sounds scary to some so here are a few varations.... from down dog jsut try to kick your heals to your butt..this helps many with the fear of jumping up....from this you can get a good feeling about being in the air, even if it is only for a second. WHen one feels OK with this start making your time in the air last longer, jump off higher, play with your locks...... Another way of playing with gravity is to go to a wall and put your finger tips right on the wall form here just try to jump from down dog into a L positon with your hips right over your hands.....i say go to a wall cuz after a while your hips will start to hit the wall then you know your hips are right over your hands. hope this helps...... have fun mastering this move Chirs
Guest guest
Don't jump through - jump high with the buttocks to the sky, and then land nearby the hands; that's the first step you have to do well. (there are very good advice in the book of David Swenson how to practice at different levels). Jumping through needs a lot (some years?) of practice. The way to is: not asking, doing, and some day you will see. Lu
