Guest guest
I have some problems with this posture. I can take my leg pretty high , both legs straightened, but I have problems taking the leg to the side. I loose balance or I feel too much strech on the inner side of the leg. Do you have any tips? Want to trade problems ? Try moving your leg to the side real slow. Easier to keep balance that way. If the stretch is too intense while moving to side, maybe bend your knee enough to alleviate pain. With the straight rooting leg, out of general principle I never stiffen that leg (lock it straight). I always have a subtle bend in the knee. Keeps strain off the lower back, acts as a natural shock absorber when walking, and easier to keep your balance in this asana with a subtle knee bend, so you can make micro compensations/corrections as your center of mass shifts. other than that, I don't think there are any special tricks. It just takes time to learn the balance. It took me a few months before I could maintain balance all the way through. -fk

Keep your ribcage lifted & out of your hips, and do not forget to straighten your spine. With every prana gently lift the vertebra, with every apana .. 'settle' in to the new alignment. As to the inner groin stretch part of this asan .. try opening this with floor work. Om Shanti ... Yogini Shakti
