Guest guest
Hi there, I would like to buy a yoga mat online but I don't know where to. I live in Portugal so I should be buying in a european online store. Should I buy a cotton rug or a sticky mat? Should I go for the famous black mat? Is black mat worth the price? I don't really need a thick mat and thinner gives me better stability, right? Does it make sense to combine a cotton rug with a sticky mat? Why? Thanks in advance, Nuno Godinho
Guest guest
Nuno Godinho Finding a mat is based on your preference. Use a European based search engine to find a European based online yoga products store. I have found nice products from www.huggermugger.com I use a very thin mat (which is also a lot less expensive) and a practice rug, which I like to call a flying carpet. The mat is for traction only. My rug absorbs sweat from more intensive practices and doubles as a bolster for some asanas. I really like having both, I think it offers diversity. Sometimes I practice with my sticky mat only, which has a line dividing it in half down the middle for working on alignment. Most of the time I use my sticky mat for traction (I work in a studio with hard wood floors), with my rug over top. Try a mat only, see what you think. Obviously a thicker mat provides more cushioning, which may be what you desire. If you can do a couple of asanas on a couple of different types of mats, see which one fits your practice style. Hope I have been of some assistance. ~Tonya Makowski Pacifica, California, USA
