Guest guest
Thank you for everyone who has expressed similiar challenges when new to Ashtanga yoga. I started a yoga practice because with the huge number of stressors in my life (too numerous and boring to mention here) I have developed a tendency toward migraines in the past year. Although I had been running 15-20 miles per week, the last thing I wanted was the pounding. I had wanted to start a yoga practice for some time and felt now was the right time to do so. I can see the changes yoga has brought so far. In fact, a friend mentioned last night that I seem more peaceful than I have in a long time. I'm also used to weightlifting and know that this can bring bulk, but also brings tone as well. I guess that was the question I wanted answered. I have been trying to ensure that I walk 3 miles a day (I'm still not up for running), and find it has helped my thighs. And just to add my experience here, I too live some distance from any Ashtanga yoga teacher, an hour and a half one way. Getting to a teacher once a month is about the best I can hope for. Those of us in similar situations are lucky to have a variety of media from which to learn this practice. Namaste. Dori New DSL Internet Access from SBC & http://sbc.
