Lee-

This is why there are wars in this world. Everyone thinks their way is the

best and only way.

John Scott's book is great. He was taught by David Williams and P.Jois.

Richard Freeman's Ashtanga tape is a bit slow but, also very thorough.

Beryl Binder Birch - Power Yoga is also a good book to learn from. Very

explicit and photos are great of each asana. Will also email back any

questions you have. so will David Williams. True teachers.

Hope this helps and that you don't walk away from a truly wonderful practice

because of others "opinions."

Lee - I dont know about videos but there is a lovely

studio in Primrose Hill called Triyoga. They offer

Mysore Ashtanga practice as well as several beginners

classes for those with no prior Ashtanga experience

(in a led style class)...the teachers are quite highly

qualified...also they have a website at

triyoga.co.uk...if it is close to your home give it a

try, they have a special rate for new students of

three classes for 10 pounds...(I recently visited

London from NYC and practiced there...) Hopefully you

will find, as I have, that in reality (and away from

this forum) most the Ashtanga teachers that I have met

have been absolutely lovely and do not talk negatively

about others or other styles of yoga...Om Shanti
