Guest guest
I'm very confused as to how you can talk about the yoga sutras and the Gita "in Buddhism"? They are fundamentally different and often diametrically opposed to each other. I'm not suggesting we get into the whole Hindu/Buddhist discussion. It has been hashed out a thousand time before, just go searching the net if your interested. I suppose I'm just voicing that while I begrudgingly tolerate the "western masses" confusing the doctrines of each, I expect more from someone who teaches... perhaps I'm misunderstanding what you mean? Personally I think that spiritually belongs in the yoga studio and that the appropriate spirituality is primarily that of Hinduism. I'm not Hindu, however I'm certainly not offended by being spoken to about the teachings in the yoga sutras or the Gita. They are just teachings which can be applied to anyone of any faith or no faith at all. However I sense even some teachers are uncomfortable with this... to me this is very unfortunate as I think we each individually benefit from experiencing the broadest of spiritual teachings. On the positive side I've had many yoga teachers effectively convey spirituality in a non-denominational and widely accessible manner. Kudos to them Peace, jon ashtangayoga, chris schmaltz <yogaboi> wrote: > > Hi, > > when i teach yoga i try to bring in actual "yoga" > meaning i talk about the yoga sutras and the gita....i > work in buddisim cuz thats the religion iam most > familiar with... > > I was wondering if as a chrsitan your offened if or > when a teacher does this?
