I think you answered your own question, I bring in things as i see it, for example i talk about non attachment and i will talk about the four noble truths, when we mediated i remind my students of the first three yoga sutra which defines yoga. Or if we are doing yoga and iam playing some chants in the back ground i will explain the meaning of Shiva and Vishnu. I hope you have a better understanding of what i mean. I know the differences between the Buddhist religion and the yogic physiosphy and i dont confuse them or think they are interchangeable. What iam into is bringing the point of yoga "union with the divine self" back into a yoga class and teach my students how that is the point of any yogic practice. Guest guest
Why is it the minute Christ is mentioned everyone goes in a huff in regards to yoga. Isn't the ultimate goal of yoga to yoke with GOD? If a yoga teacher wishes to incorporate spiritual/religious teachings in his class, it is up to each individual whether or not they wish to participate in that class. If he/she chooses to discuss some of each and there are no objections by their students then who are we to judge. I truly wondor if many of the participants of yoga classes are even looking for a connection to a "higher power" at all. My job is simply to serve them:O) > > > > > pratibha_the_mirror > [sMTP:no_reply] > > Thursday, November 14, 2002 5:39 AM > > ashtanga yoga > > ashtanga yoga Re: Teaching w/ > religion...margee > > > > > > Let us not mix RELIGION with RELIGIOCITY that real > yoga experience is > > all about. > > > > > > > > > > > > ashtanga yoga > > > > > > > > > Terms of Service > > <>. > > Web Hosting - Let the expert host your site http://webhosting.
