Guest guest
If you study ashtanga with a qualified teacher he/ she will not give you more postures than you can handle - if you want to practice ashtanga yoga that is exactly where you should start, not in some other type of yoga practice... --- ej2780 <ej2780 wrote: > Guys, > > I would very much like to practice hatha yoga. Guest guest
hmmmmmm........... well lets see..... Yes ashtanga is good for beginners, IF IF IF you have a good teacher in your area who offers newbie classes. The danger with ashtanga yoga with beginners is they often do not have a high degree of body awareness so the alightment in their postures is not that hot, and they can hurt themselfs, asking the teachers around about what their ideas on alignment will help you allot. In traditional Ashtanga yoga alignment is not important it comes later in the practice but i have seen this lead to injury when the new guy in class wants to compete with the 20 something professional dancer. Also it can be very humbling if you go to the mysore class and all the teacher teaches you is the sun salutes and wont let you move on until you are proficient in them...often beginners get their ego hurt and wont come back, but the process of destroying the ego is just a part of it, and we cause pain when we try to hang on to it! I hope this is helpful and you discover the many benefits of the ashtanga vinyasa system find you peace Chris --- ej2780 <ej2780 wrote: > Guys, > > I would very much like to practice hatha yoga.
