Phoebe: I'm an Ashtanga Teacher in Cedar Rapids Iowa

and am authorized to teach the primary series in the

U.S. from the Ashtanga Yoga Research Institute in

Mysore (SKPJ's place). I highly recommend John

Scott's book and Richard Freeman's tape. I've also

begun production of my own tape and will let you know

when it is available -if you are interested.

I'm not sure where in the Midwest you are located, but

if you're ever in the area -please feel free to drop

by.

Was wondoring if anyone knows of any ashtanga teachers/centers in Warren

County, NJ. Thinking of moving to the liberty corner, Hackettstown area in

the future.

Maureen,

I'm just curious. I don't see you mentioned at the ashtanga.com

website as an authorized teacher. Is there somewhere else that I

should be looking for more current info on authorized instructors? I

travel quite a bit, occasionally to Iowa, so this is helpful

information to me. Also, do you have a web address?

Thanks,

Joel

Joel: I recently married and moved to Iowa from

Washington, the people running the ashtanga website

took my former name and location off the list and have

promised me that my new name and info will be up with

the next revision.

Another place to look for authorized instructors is

the Yoga Journal directory (basically covers the

world). Also, the It's Yoga website www.itsyoga.com

also has a teacher training program that is directed

by Larry Schulz and also trained with SKPJ -they also

list teachers who have been through their training

program. I'm in the process of building my website:

www.yogAthletics.net -it should be finished in Mid

December. In the meantime -if you'd like additional

informtion about my studio (hours, location, type of

instruction) -let me know and I'll e-mail you

additional information.

Also, for your information, Priyayoga

(www.priyayoga.com) is an Ashtanga studio in Chicago.

Although all of the staff has not trained in Mysore,

they are very good, motivating instructors with strong

technical backgrounds.

Have a terrific Thanksgiving

Maureen,

Thanks for the info, hopefully someday soon I will get to Iowa again.

I will be in San Diego for most of December and will be spending time

at Tim Miller's studio...I can't wait. I'll keep my eye open for your

website and will drop you a note as soon as it looks like I will be out

your way.

Thanks again for your help. Happy Thanksgiving!
