Satsang update Rod Stryker

Dear Friends, Before soon I'm going to send out some thoughts about setting the

intention in the coming year and prioritizing your commitment to live in the

fullness of spirit. In the meantime, wanted to notify you that the Maui retreat

is about half full. I¡¦ve just returned from a Yoga and Buddhism conference and

it has inspired me to redefine the curriculum of the March retreat in Maui. The

focus of the retreat will be on Tantra and its view on the nature of existence,

Samadhi, culmination of practice, the ultimate destination of practice both

internally and in the world, and finally, to what extent does mastery of this

science shape our lives. As you probably already know, there will be a minimum

of a couple of practices a day with a significant time for meditative practices

and to contemplate these deepest of teachings. This year¡¦s retreat is limited

to 30 participants. If you are interested in attending, we recommend that you

sign up soon. My monthly Satsang/Medi!

tation is held at the Los Angeles Yoga Center. For more information please

contact the LA Yoga Center or visit www.layogacenter.com or www.pureyoga.com

There are still some spaces left for the New Years event I'll be teaching with

Pandit Rajmani Tigunait, "Tantra: Reshaping Our Destiny". Some of you may not

know that there is no tuition for this event. For more information contact the

Himalayan Institute. Wish you all the best and during this time of year, it is

as important as ever that you to take time for stillness and honoring your

spirit. In Light and Love, Rod "Meditate and realize this world is filled with

the presence of God" Shevetashvatara Upanishad

Greetings, We¡¦d like to introduce Ayna, who has been a regular reader and

correspondent with DailyZen for several years. Her letters are always full of

warmth and expressive of an appreciation that adds to the light in this world.

Please visit with her here: http://www.dailyzen.com/zenworld.asp

Because of your enthusiastic response to the calendar, we managed to get one

more box of the DailyZen calendars ordered to help fill your holiday requests.

It looks like this edition of the first 2003 DailyZen calendar may sell out at

the publishers, so next year we hope to see a larger printing for us all to

enjoy. The cards will be available throughout the year as well as the t-shirts.

http://www.dailyzen.com/calendar.asp

Thank you for all your letters of late in support of all the new features on

DailyZen. We have been enjoying having more available for you in the site and to

expand the sense of community through the Daily Zennist. Even as the days

start to grow longer, our remembrance of the light that is always present within

and without becomes more important. That extra smile or kind word goes even

farther in these short days.

For our friends in Australia where the days are long, the drought is severe, and

spirits need lifting in the heat and dryness of their times. Whatever part of

the world we find ourselves in, the light and warmth we share extends so much

farther than we can even

realize. Wishing for peace and tranquil days ahead. With Care, The Monkess

SANSKRIT TRIVIA: Virtually nothing is known about the man PATANJALI, though it

is thought that he lived in the second century CE. His great contribution was to

have compiled and systematized existing knowledge and given Yoga a philosophical

shape that allowed it to compete with other contemporary schools of thought.

Om Shanti.
