Guest guest
Thanks Pauline, Sorry to have put you to so much work. I will have to get John Scott's book, among others. I will add vinyasa between sides as I gain aerobic fitness by doing the vinyasas in the first place. I will start by doing more vinyasa the next time I do the primary series.Love and Blessing, Ed tpmartyr <no_reply> wrote:Hi Ed. sorry about that. I was using the sanskrit counts my teacher uses during led class. I should have specified that the counts I refer to are the Surya Namaskara A positions. So here are the counts and their corresponding asanas: samasthitih 1. Ekam (inhale) - urdhva hastasana 2. Dve (exhale) - uttanasana 3. Trini (inhale) - uttasana 4. Chatvari (exhale) - cataranga dandasana 5. Panca (inhale) - urdhva mukha svanasana 6. Shat (exhale) - adho mukha svanasana 7. sapta (inhale) - uttasana 8. ashtau (exhale) - uttasana 9. nava (inhale) - urdhva hastasana samasthitih You should try doing half vinyasa between sides. It really helps to maintain the heat, and it feels good to stretch your limbs between sides. I may even try doing full vinyasa between asanas and still do half-vinyasa between sides since the heat in my apartment isn't working. This is the way John Scott has it in his book. Anyhoo, hope this helps. Namaste, Pauline ashtanga yoga, Ed Ed <edoyogi> wrote: > > Thank you Pauline, > I remain somewhat mystified, though. I don't know the terms you used as they are not used in the materials I have. SKPJ's Yoga Mala uses numbers to talk about the steps on the vinyasas and David Swenson describes what to do without naming the steps in a formal way. I do gather that I have been doing half-vinyasa as I don't come to samsthitih at anytime during a vinyasa. > > Hi Margee, > > Of course I will pray for your son.
