Guest guest
Dear phil, I am not going to offer much more specific advice because the emails I have read regarding your situation have provided you with wonderful direction. I will offer you this: many ashtanga yogis have similar situations because of the repetative nature of this practice. Dave and Doug Swensen have shared with me about shoulder problems and I believe Dave said something about a hip problem. Everything everyone has said points to slowing down in the practice and being new and aware through the flow. New and aware - ha! so easy to say. The Iyengar practice does not have to be dry. Look around for some juicy, humor-filled, well-trained teachers. Rodney Yee is my favorite. First and foremost you need to address those injuries and it can be done through yoga but remember these bodies will never be "perfect" and in that they are perfect. You can learn so much from these misalignments about your internal workings mental, physical, spiritual (breath). Enjoy your journey!
