Guest guest
when I discovered ashtanga last year, I had just had surgery on my wrist and went to class with a brace on. If you can imagine the teachers--they were slightly incredulous that I was there and perhaps a bit nervous too. even after the brace came off, my wrist was weak and I did down dog and many others on my knuckles but eventually was able to get my hand flat. I think the slow introduction helped make my wrist stronger but I couldn't get thru the practice had I tried to put my hand flat everytime. so, in answer--it did not injure my wrist tho I was very conscious of the limitations (I play guitar and was not willing to risk that) and tried not to push the healing process too quickly. Go slow and easy and listen to your body. well, that's my opinion however, I am not a doctor (and don't even play one on tv) peace, Noelle - dolahen <latoyagood ashtanga yoga Monday, March 03, 2003 11:43 AM ashtanga yoga Knuckle Chaturanga Dandasana I am trying to return to my ashtanga practice after about 1 1/2 year of being away from it. It was partly due to depression and partly due to a problem with my right wrist. It seems to be getting stronger (couldn't even do down-dog but can now) but I still can't Chaturanga without significant pain. If I do it on my knuckles I'm fine. Has anyone tried this? Will this sort of adjustment possibly cause injury? Sponsor ashtanga yoga
