Hi!!

I have "Ashtanga Yoga - The practice Manual" by David Swenson,

and "Ashtanga Yoga - The Primary Series" by John Scott.

It is very easy to perceive that both "styles" from these teachers

are not the same... for example, john Scott sometimes does full

vinyasas between the seated postures...etc.

So, which of these two "styles" is the most accurate, i.e., more

like the way Sri Pattabhi Jois teaches in Mysore? It´s a bit

confusing having two renowned teachers of Ashtanga and not

converging into one similar practice for me to work on.

Thank you!

Hello,

I have the same two books and asked the same question of

John Scott at this weekend's workshop in Oxford, England. The

reply he gave was... "it's a question of time, if you have the time to

do full vinyasa between asanas then do full vinyasa!" As I

understand it people don't practice full vinyasa in Mysore due to

the physical number of people wishing to practice each day.

Hope this helps?!

Om Shanti,

Guy.
