if you have been sedentary for some time, i would NOT recommend full

vinyasa even more. and again it is not the current method taught. if you are

here on the ashtanga board and want to know the corrrect ashtanga method,

people will tell you. if you want to do sun salutations and pump up, you might

want power yoga or weight lifting. yoga is not about being pure or not. yoga is

yoga and the pure physical side has its value, but you can not ignore the

other aspects of mind and spirit. they are there whether you want to

acknowledge them or not.

I am a disciple of Russell and will study with him for a long time.

I am also part of a 'community' and I ask my fellow travelers questions.

I seek information from all sources and that does not take away from my respect

and regard from my Yoga teacher.

Many different perspective helps because no one has perfect knowledge.

Sincerely,

h

You know, Herve, if you have made it far enough to take a class

with Russell Kai, then why don't you ask him.

why not try both methods and do what you enjoy doing more? Honestly just ask

yourself what feels right... But just for the record neither John Scott nor

David Swenson actually teach the full vinyasa on a day to day practice.

Ashtanga with half vinyasa will give most people a terrific workout, if

that's what they are looking for, it will indeed give them much more...
