Guest guest
I think FBL has got this one completely wrong. (I agree with her sometimes but not this time.) I also dont mean to sound all knowledgeble about Ashtanga but I believe that Yoga is not a marathon run practise. Listening to the body is one of the most important aspects of Yoga...all Yoga incl Ashtanga. Somedays, when my body doesn't want to do it, I gain a lot just by practising some pranayama or even doing just shavasana for an hour or more. It is a very Western mechanistic attitude to keep pushing to reach a goal because the baggaged mind has a concept of success and failure where effort means success and no effort means failure. I think in Yoga that can be counter-productive and may even put one off Yoga or cause injuries. Listening, just listening to your body at times is also Yoga, and can bring wonders to our practise, I think. After all when you begin listening to your body, with your mind, and respecting what your body wants, there you see Yoga (union) starting to happen ALREADY! Thank you all for listening... ashtanga yoga, funkybadlady <no_reply> wrote: > Detail - in Ashtanga, you should always do your whole practice > even on "low energy" days because this is part of how the > practice instructs.
