Guest guest
I had plantar fasciitis a year ago. The specialist I saw said it was caused by the muscles in the back of my leg being too tight. The first thing you should do is find out exactly what you're doing that causes it (tight muscles? over-pronation? high heels?) I didn't need any modifications in my practice, although there was some discomfort in standing poses at first. I was extra careful to activate the arch of my foot and press the ball of the big toe down in standing poses, and spent a lot of time in down dog working my heels down, which really helped my pf. Be more aware of how your feet are grounded at all times, and listen to your body if you experience discomfort in or after a particular pose. I was given streches to do, and after a few months of those and yoga, my pf cleared up completely - but it's taught me a lot about the importance of my feet in my practice. Hope yours gets better soon. --- heidepc <no_reply> wrote: Hello, I've just joined the group and last week I found I have plantar fascitis in my left foot. I've been practicing ashthanga for over 1 year. I've read the postings and it seems standing postures might aggravate it. Has anyone experienced this injury and continued to practice? Modification recommendations would help very much. Thank you, Heide in Scottsdale, AZ ashtanga yoga Terms of Service.
