Guest guest
If this helps clarify, Swenson teaches modifications that Guruji doesn't teach now, and is not as precise with the vinyasa system as most of us prefer to be now. However, David does teach out of what he was taught by Guruji, whose own style has changed over the years. Many old-time students have been taught to teach as they were instructed, and to continue to do so even though Guruji's present style has evolved. In terms of Swenson's teaching style with respect to his relationship and studenthood with Guruji, when I was in Mysore last year and asked who would be a good teacher for me in the states, Guruji specifically named and recommended David Swenson to me. Other teachers from the same time period who also have more flexible approaches to teaching than Guruji and who continue to be recommended by and maintain relationships with Guruji include Tim Miller and Nancy Gilgoff. Guest guest
I couldn't agree more pfstrikes. David teaches what he was taught and so do many others. I have seen him in Mysore several times in recent years as well as on the tours. Every teacher will bring a unique perspective to the practice. That's what a teacher does. He has a relationship with Guruji who has approved his teaching ---- end of story.
