I practiced bikrim (sp?) - you know the hot kind- yoga for a year or so and then tired random yoga classes here and there. I too am new to Ashtanga and I can definitley recommend David Swensons book 'Ashtanga Yoga' and I have just ordered his DVD too. I have private lessons in Ashtanga at the moment and the book is like having a teacher at your side - more so as he gives alternative postures for those of us who are yet to have hamstrings like elastic- bands!
