Guest guest
I have balance issues with my right side vs my left side, especially in the hips where I¹m a lot looser in the left than the right. However, I¹ve learnt to just throw faith into the prescribed system. Trying to overcome these issues has proven difficult where do you let up? I¹m impressed with the ashtanga system. In my opinion it is the closest one can get to a complete system in the (ouch) Œbodyworks¹ field. Have faith that these issues will slowly ease out through continued practice and dedication. Enjoy your daily reverence for life (or how often you do your practice)...and as Guruji would say: ³Practice, and all is coming.² On 7/10/03 4:06 am, "Josh" <indiatravels2002 wrote: > Hi Y'all, > > I've often wondered if I should tailor my practice towards the areas > of my inflexibility. Guest guest
hola! well in ashtanga.....traditional ashtanga ie mysore style.....you should not be doing backbends untill you can foward bend correctly. WHY? you might ask.....mr. jois says although you maybe able to back bend you are not strong enough/"clean" enoguht to do backbends. Remember the purpose of the first series is to clease your body...so if you want to do traditional ashtanga i have one peice of advice STOP BACKBENDING! Now...if you would like to practice someother kind of yoga that is as fast paced as ashtanga i suggest vinyasa yoga, jivamukti yoga, Tri-Yoga! All theses styles are beautiful and have something to give the yogi! What ever path you take, make it a heartfelt offer and remember its never about the pose! much luck to ya Chris PS when i started yoga i was in the same boat your in! but approch foward bends with respect! they are the rising moon of yoga asanas they teach self accepetence and patience....so slow down! I also can bend backwards quite well but have trouble bending forwards and what I'd like to know is whether it is better to work mainly on forward bends until my hamstrings/groin open and then proceed with a more balanced practice after these areas have 'caught up' to the rest of my body. What I'm concerned with is that if I continue to open my backbends will it make it more difficult to correct the imbalance with my forward-bends? Any advice would be most appreciated! Thx. ashtanga yoga The New with improved product search
