Guest guest
Vanessa: I have just experienced a shoulder injury myself. I laid off practice for a few days and then returned. I must have returned too soon because I reinjured it within a week or so. Now I have been off the mat for about 3 weeks. If you have health insurance, go to the doctor/ sports injury specialist or something. Shoulders are very tricky apparently and an injury must be handled with patience and delicacy. Good luck. omgyrl <omgyrl wrote: Hi everyone! I'm new to the board and I have been practicing Ashtanga for about a month or so and yesterday I took a Led Class but found my right shoulder hurting after doing a chaturanga. I am guessing I must have landed too hard or I dunno what happened anyway it is hurting. I began to practice this morning but after doing my last Surya Namaskar B my shoulder started acting up so I was wondering if anyone has advice on how many days I should lay off the practice or is this a common occurence and should I work through it? Many Thanks, Vanessa ashtanga yoga A belief in instant revolution is just what the powers that be want. Guest guest
You can injure your shoulder if you drop down too far in chaturanga. i.e., if you drop to the ground, below your elbows. I made that simple change and my shoulder pain went away. --- omgyrl <omgyrl wrote: > Hi everyone! > > I'm new to the board and I have been practicing > Ashtanga for about a > month or so and yesterday I took a Led Class but > found my right > shoulder hurting after doing a chaturanga. Guest guest
Thanks everyone for your help, I think I will lay off practice for a few days and then see what happens. I taught a class last night and did a few chaturangas and the pain wasn't bad. Thanks again!
