In response to the $ question I have actually seen a flight published for less than $1000 in the website Bootsnall.com - it's an independant traveller site with a wealth of information. Now, this was from Dallas and I didn't probe any deeper to find out additional tax (which I'm sure there is) or restrictions, etc etc, but it's worth looking into.
