Guest guest
Hello, some days ago we discussed the correct way of breathing. I noticed that it seems difficult to breath only 5 times and work with the asana/body in that short time (may be folks like Richard Freeman could do so after years of practice). Somebody knows, where this form of counting up to 5 comes from? In Yoga Mala, the book of Pattabhi Jois you found nothing about counting. The advice there is: "as much as possible", or: "as many as possible" for staying in the pose. If we do so and stay as much as possible, we practice this holding like in the Iyengar-way, didn't we? - In the contrary John Scott writes in his book about Ashtanga: it is a fluently sequence with briefly (!!) interruptions in the poses! So I hear two different voices now, stay as long as you can from PJ, and the other: stay only a short time. According Pattabhi Jois' book: the sriptures are right, and if he also writes, as long as possible, why he counts up to 5 himself?
