Guest guest
Hi, i have this question about Mysore style. I took a big break from doing Ashtanga at home, and taking led classes, and i'm returning now and am interested in taking a Mysore class. I am not sure if i remember the sequence. Do i just walk in and start doing my own practice, and when i dont know what to do next, the teacher comes over and tells me the next pose, and then the next one? I would figure they have enough students that they can't really just keep telling me the next pose. I am just nervous about walking in and being stranded, is it essential to memorize the sequence first???
Guest guest
It depends on the Studio. Most places assume that you will not know the Series and the teacher will help you learn it pose by pose. Some places will not have you do the whole series as that is the traditional method. Best bet is to go to the Studio and meet the teacher and talk to them for a bit if you can. jai! Guest guest
This is just a question, but why don't you just memorize the sequence anyone? It flows much better when you do. ashtanga yoga, "canteloupe1967" <obeymytiara> wrote: > Hi, i have this question about Mysore style. Guest guest
I believe that the ideal Mysore class the teacher would be able to explain or tell you the poses that you are not sure about and help you to memorize it. I have the perception that not all teachers promote it this way. I found the beauty of a Mysore class. Is to be able to introduce any beginner to the ashtanga practice wich some teacher will do. Guest guest
Thanks to all of you for answering, and Lashannsmall, thanks for that link; i printed out the postures; you're right, memorizing them wouldn't be so tough, considering i used to have them memorized anyway. :-) ashtanga yoga, "lashannasmall" <lashannasmall@h...> wrote: > This is just a question, but why don't you just memorize the > sequence anyone?
