I am 57 and practice Asthanga 4 times a week. Twice a week led classes, and twice a week self-practice at home. Clearly I will never get past the primary series, but that's ok, I love it! Guest guest
Humph. Old ? 55 to 60, OLD ???? Darned cheek. Listen, 85 to 90 is old. 55 to 60 is not. You just wait until you get here, you'll see. And Yes, we 'oldies' DO still practice ! (Haven't you heard of Indra Devi, died at 103 and still practising? and there are many others, many, many others still practising well into their nineties.) ashtanga yoga, rafailgr123 <no_reply> wrote: > a big love to all of you, > i have a question. > have anyone of you met any old age ashtangi and to still practice > assanas? and when i say old, i mean mor than 55-60 years old. > because i dont know if i still have a long time left. > hare om. > > --- > > In ashtanga yoga, bheit@e... wrote: > > > > I start with the end result in mind. 5 breaths takes me 90 min, 8 > breaths takes me 120 min to complete the primary series. > > > > Bob > > > > > > Bill Gray <billg@j...> > > Nov 14, 2003 10:23 AM > > ashtanga yoga > > RE: ashtanga yoga correct breathing (1-2-3-4-5) > > > > Oh for gods sake, Just BREATHE! > > > > > > lu_38_de [no_reply] > > Wednesday, November 12, 2003 10:51 PM > > ashtanga yoga > > Re: ashtanga yoga correct breathing (1-2-3-4-5) > > > > > > 5 breaths could go fast, they also could go slowly. 5 breaths could > > be 5 seconds, they also could be 50 seconds. 5 breaths doesn't say > > nothing. I have met and studied with Gwendolyn Hunt, who is currently in her early-mid 70s and who began practicing Ashtanga at 60. I have to say, she did not strike me as someone I would describe as in "old age." see info about her at: http://www.ashtanga.ie/teachers.html
